Where did the summer months go? I cannot believe that it is time to head back to school already. As some students will go back virtually and some will head back in person, all students will encounter some degree of feelings and have to deal with certain situations that back to school brings.
A few things that come to mind during this school season may be more daily structure and organization then we were practicing this summer, self-motivation to accomplish our tasks, or even the thought of making new friends. As a parent myself, heading back to school was a bit more complicated this year and added more stress (good or bad) to our daily living. Let me tell you, as much as I thought I was prepared for that first day of school, I now laugh at myself and had to make some quick adjustments. One thing I did was to create a daily plan for our morning routines along with after school to-do’s, so we could all stay on track without driving each other crazy.
Self motivation is another big task that plays a part in our daily living. Whether as a parent to motivate ourselves to get our work done in the office or at home, but also as a student to get our assignments done for school and chores around the house.
Another very important aspect of starting a new school year is the thought of making new friends. For some of us this comes easy, but for others this could take us out of our comfort zone. Remember that a few ways to meet new people would be to get involved at school, approach someone who’s by themself, or to find people that have interests that are similar to yours. Whatever your age, friendships help us survive and add positivity to our quality of life.
Have a great school year everyone!!
