What would the city of Holland look like if the students of Championship Martial Arts spread
kindness? The ripple effect could be incredible! Just one act of kindness from one student
could spread to reach many people…now multiply that by all the students of martial arts, and
our impact could be GREAT!
In June we are focusing on the word KINDNESS, and the actions that go with it. KINDNESS
can look like encouragement, and the mat is a great place for this! Students, instructors, and
parents alike can encourage others in martial arts, in other athletic events, and even in
everyday activities.
KINDNESS can also look like friendliness! Share a smile when you pass a person at the
gym, the grocery store, or on the sidewalk. Show a wave of friendliness to the other driver at
the four-way stop while letting them go first. Take a break from your electronics to try a
friendly conversation with someone around you while you watch your child at martial arts
class.
Generous actions also show KINDNESS. You can be kind and generous by giving money,
but also by giving your help or services to others. Offer to help someone carry their groceries
to the car. Hold the door for someone while giving them a smile! Show selflessness and
generosity by helping a neighbor with their chores, and do it while expecting nothing in return.
This kindness will likely brighten their day!
During the month of June, will you pledge to do one intentional act of kindness every day?
Look for ways to be kind and to show kindness while knowing that many times it may go
unnoticed. However, what is more likely is that your kindness will be multiplied when you
inspire others to also be kind. And that could have an incredible impact on the city of Holland,
making it an even greater place to live and to practice martial arts!
